What Are Asbestos Companies?<\/h2>\n

Asbestos companies are businesses that made, sold, or supplied asbestos-containing products. Because asbestos<\/a> was cheap, durable, heat-resistant, and fireproof, it was used in thousands of products from the 1930s through the early 1980s.<\/p>\n

When these products were installed, repaired, or damaged, they released microscopic fibers that could be inhaled or swallowed. These fibers can cause mesothelioma<\/a> and other asbestos-related diseases decades after exposure.<\/p>\n

Court documents show that many asbestos manufacturers knew about these dangers but hid the risks<\/strong> from workers and the public until federal regulations began limiting asbestos use in the early 1980s. Although new asbestos products are no longer sold in the U.S., millions of older products remain in homes, job sites, and public buildings.<\/p>\n
