Each patient has the right to know what to expect and to feel like they have the wheel throughout their cancer journey.\u201d<br \/>\n<strong>\u2013 Lindsey Rotnem, MSW, Oncology Social Worker<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Lindsey attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work and graduated with her Master of Social Work. She\u2019s a licensed independent social worker (LISW) and is currently working toward her Oncology Social Work Certification (OSW-C).<\/p>\n<p>During her time at Ohio State, Lindsey completed internships at the Franklin County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, the National Kidney Foundation, and The James Cancer Hospital. She\u2019s since held both inpatient and outpatient positions, helping patients through their health care journey across multiple areas. Specifically, she\u2019s worked as a home visitor, virtual care manager, and health coach in addition to her experience in oncology social work.<\/p>\n<p>Lindsey\u2019s passion for helping others began at a young age, as she recognized how fortunate she was to have a supportive family and wanted to share that support with others. While Lindsey was in high school, she lost her grandmother to lymphoma. This inspired her to pursue a career in social work and later specialize in oncology and palliative care.<\/p>\n<p>As the moderator for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mesotheliomahope.com\/mesothelioma-hope-support-group\/\">Mesothelioma Hope\u2019s Virtual Support Group<\/a>, Lindsey works to create a welcoming space for patients, families, and caregivers to share what they\u2019re going through and find connection with others who are on a similar journey.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn my role with Mesothelioma Hope, my goal is to provide a supportive atmosphere that allows patients to feel less isolated and provides coping skills to manage emotions surrounding diagnosis and dying.\u201d<br \/>\n<strong>\u2013 Lindsey Rotnem, MSW, Oncology Social Worker<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When she\u2019s not supporting patients, Lindsey enjoys watching Ohio State football, traveling (particularly to ocean beach destinations), and spending time with her family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As an Oncology Social Worker and Mesothelioma Hope\u2019s Support Group Moderator, Lindsey brings a wealth of experience to help patients and caregivers navigate mesothelioma with education, support, and dignity. \u201cEveryone is a unique individual with their own values and experiences, which should be honored when it comes to medical decision-making.
