Art decided to incorporate alternative treatment in the form of an anti-inflammatory diet.<\/p>\n<p>Twice a day, his wife Jan prepared a blend of asparagus, beetroot powder, cottage cheese, and various oils for him to take through a feeding tube. She was given 6-12 months to live.<\/p>\n<p>She was determined to fight her disease so she could live to see her 3-year-old daughter grow up.
